Leadership Matters Conversations welcomes Nahla Summers
Integrated Care Northamptonshire’s April Leadership Matters Conversation event welcomes the author, fundraiser and CEO of A Culture of Kindness, Nahla Summers, on Tuesday 18 April at 10.30am.
Nahla will be talking to us about cultivating a culture of kindness with an inspiring discussion entitled ‘Kindness is Not About Bringing in the Biscuits’. The session is completely free for health and care colleagues and will take place on Microsoft Teams – register now to book your place.
About Nahla Summers
Nahla spent 15 years as a senior leader in some of the world’s leading management firms. Then the world she knew fell apart and it was the kindness of a stranger that became a catalyst for picking herself back up. From here, she started to research the power of kindness, what kindness really was, and she discovered that all the values that are umbrellaed in kindness – Gratitude, Empathy, Integrity, Time, Trust, Connection and Courage – were in the most part missing from the organisations she had worked within. She was soon to discover that it was this that was at the root cause of the mental health conversation within workplaces. When we focus on kindness and the values within that, we can make lasting change to the workplace culture.
Whilst doing this research, she wanted to see what was happening in the world at large and heard hundreds of stories of kindness. She entwines these into her work to bring it to life and ensure people can see the change they can make is simple.
In her personal life Nahla has overcome adversity to become an inspiring woman whose one goal in life is to start a global conversation about kindness and how the world interacts. She is the founder of two organisations, A Culture of Kindness, and Sunshine People.
Nahla is an inspiring woman who has set herself yearly challenges to spread acts of kindness globally. Each year Nahla undertakes an adventurous challenge and asks people to sponsor her by simply doing an act of kindness for a stranger, her only goal being to spread acts of kindness across the globe. In 2018 she completed a 3000-mile cycle ride across the United States, from San Diego to Florida; in 2019 she walked 500 miles from Dorset in the south of England up to Gretna Green. In 2020 she set a world record for the longest ElliptiGO cycle and broke the record for the biggest Strava Art known to be completed in England. She cycled 5007 miles, visiting every city in the UK and writing the word kindness across the country in the process.
